Biography

Dr. Tyrone D. Dixon is an award winning filmmaker and is excited to lead Dikajada Films into the future of multicultural, multimedia content development.  Tyrone has over 20 years of experience of developing, producing, directing, crewing many successful feature film and television projects.  Tyrone began his film career after receiving his MFA at the prestigious American Film Institute. Tyrone has worked with directors such as Paul Thomas Anderson, Spike Lee, Clive Barker just to name a few.

Tyrone also spent 3 years working as a development executive for Russell Simmons and Def Pictures prior to directing and producing two seasons of Cool Women, an Emmy nominated WE Network television show executive produced by Debbie Allen.  Tyrone also acted as the line producer for the Oscar nominated documentary, Tupac Resurrection.

Tyrone’s debut film, documentary, 8 Wheels and Some Soul Brotha Music, was the inspiration for the Fox feature film Roll Bounce, starring Bow-Wow and Nick Cannon.  Tyrone was a producer and marketing consultant for the successful Roll Bounce.  8 Wheels and Some Soul Brotha Music went on to win multiple film festival awards prior to its release in 2005.

Scouts – The Chronicles of Troop 242, is a coming of age comedy about the journey of an upward bound-urban Boy Scout Troop, is the first project on the Dikajada Films slate and will be shot in Houston, Texas. Tyrone and Preston Holmes are partnering with the National BSA to bring Scouts to screen.

Presently, Tyrone is directing/editing the awaited retrospective on the making of Roll Bounce called, A Hardwood Classic.  Tyrone holds a PhD in Media Psychology while serving as a professor at the New York Film Academy and Texas Southern University, School of Communication.
